This is the Italeri 1:24 scale DAF XF105 Maritime Truck and Trailer kit that I have added lights to and created an opening cab door. This is one of many model kits that I have made with authentic lighting as I like to create some atmosphere with something that would otherwise 'just sit there doing nothing'. My aim is to inspire others to take that model kit and try to build some life into it and make it look more realistic. I am no expert but we all had to start somewhere didn't we?
From Exxon oil tankers to Nissan Datsun car carriers... From Italian fishing boats to Christopher Columbus' ships... This is just a small fraction of the huge collection of model ships at the Los Angeles Maritime Museum in San Pedro, CA. The video doesn't do it justice. I wish I could show you the incredible intricate detail of these amazing models.

They look like toy boats, but they serve a serious purpose. An outsider at this facility near Grenoble, France, may see grown men riding arounda lake in miniature ships. But these are pilots of the world's largest ships, and they're practicing navigation with meticulously engineered 1:25 scale models of real cruisers, tankers, and containerships. Port Revel Shiphandling Training Centre, in operation since 1967, has had more than 6,000 maritime pilots and merchant ship officers from all over the world train on its 13-acre man-made lake. Wind-, wave-, and current-generating machines simulate real-world conditions, to help the pilots learn how to maneuver in shallow waters and deal with emergencies—in safe conditions. The school recently added its own built-to-scale course of the giant new lo...

Imagine being in a helicopter, going back in time and doing a flyby of White Star Line's RMS Titanic on its maiden voyage, shiny and new. The scenes were filmed to make it appear as such and the frame rate was slowed from 26 to 20 frames per second. This beautiful model ship is about 6 feet long and captures every minute detail of the original Titanic. In a ghostly way, no passengers are seen on deck. April 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the tragedy of the sinking of Titanic as a result of a collision with an iceberg. RMS stands for Royal Mail Ship and yes, Titanic was delivering mail to USA and probably Canada. A lot of people didn't get their mail the following week after the disaster. This model is at the Maritime Museum in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Please leave a comment. SUbscribe to...
